I remember seeing my mom playing this game on the Hewlett Packard PC and she would let me play every now and then for around 30 minutes per session. I was immediately attracted and addicted to this game, the backgrounds, the enemies, the item pickups and bonuses. It all was so great to play around with, she showed me a couple shortcuts in some of the levels and she wasn't much of a gamer. My dad was but he was also a hacker in a non-traditional sense. I keep returning for more Nukum action as I grew up and it's still in my library of most played games. The way the items interact with the environment and how duke jumps in a cartwheel after getting the shoes. Just plain amazing. Yes, I said Nukum. It's how it was spelled when Apogee was afraid of a lawsuit from Captain Planet and the Planeteers animated comic with one of the characters same name.
